    10 giant food companies

Oxfam has compiled all the major brands and the 10 giant food companies who own them (current at time of writing). To take a look at their original article and to see the larger infographic, click here.

Those 10 companies in the middle are now the biggest food and beverage companies in the world. Together, they generate revenues of more than $1.1 billion a day. They also employ millions of people in poor countries, directly and indirectly, to grow and produce their products. Because of their global reach and influence, these companies could play a big role in reducing poverty, hunger, and inequality. But right now, they’re not doing enough.

Oxfam want to "Change the way food companies do business". They conducted 18 months of research to see who the giant companies operate, and they discovered they could do better, and that is where we all have a part to play. We can make a difference.

Even big companies care what customers think. You don't need to stop buying your favorite products to make a difference. Instead, make your voice heard. Check out the scorecard. Get the facts. Then use your power as a consumer to tell companies exactly what needs to change. The scorecard will constantly be updated so you can see the impact you’re having.

So go and take a look, choose a brand, see who owns the brand, see their scorecard, and contact the company. Use our buying power for good and make a change. The 10 giant food companies can make a massive impact in so many areas globally.

For example, Cheerios are owned by General Mills, and their score card is 40%. You could tweet a message directly to them, or share on Facebook how you would like them to change.

So get the facts, make your voice heard and tell the companies where they need to change. It may be their use of land, water, human rights, women, transparency, climate and workers.

Would be good to know who owns (which families - first and last names please) these companies?

How much market share each owns and profits from?

Could then work out how much harm is being caused generally in society and how much this is costing Governments of the world

Now if sugar were to be properly labeled as an addictive poison then maybe we (class action law suit) as the people affected by these non foods could make better choices.

Funny, but I don't see anything that's real food among those brands.

I like Twinings tea and I occasionally buy bottled water at the airport, but I would not touch anything else from these companies.
