Why Dairy-Free Coffee?
Creating a dairy-free coffee recipe solves two problems –
- It helps those who are dairy intolerant
- It is far far lower in carbs than a milky latte or cappuccino
How do you make coffee when dairy intolerant? For those who need to go dairy-free, opting for soy milk is out of the question (it’s still so controversial due to the possible dangers of phytoestrogens) plus it’s often packed with sugar. Nut milk isn’t true milk but very dilute nut juice with sugar, additives, thickeners and preservatives. Rice milk and oat milk are often high in carbs and ultra-processed.
How many carbs are there in coffee? Coffee is life. That morning cuppa livens you up but have you ever calculate how many carbs are in a milky coffee? Too many.
So coconut dairy-free coffee is the perfect solution.Want to know why you should avoid milky coffees? Just LOOK at this handy guide to carbs on coffee. Never touch them again. #ditchthecarbs
There are only 4g total carbs / 100ml full-fat milk, but the problem lies in the VOLUME of milk that is required to make a milky coffee such as a latte, cappuccino or a flat white.
Once I discovered the carbs in a latte, I soon switched to a creamy coffee. Why? Because a creamy coffee only requires a cup of long black or filter coffee 0g + 1-2 tbsp cream = 1g carbs
